African Students Association

Established to let people know about African cultures - to be ambassadors of Africa on & off the campus, to disseminate accurate information about African countries; to give the members of the organization opportunities to know each others culture.

Black Student Association

Established to enhance academic excellence among group members through means which are to include: formation of study groups, peer advising, and participation to a greater extent in extracurricular programs offered as an integral part of college life.

Indian Students Association

Established to provide for social, cultural, and fraternal relations among Indian nationals associated with Michigan Technological University; promote understanding and more and closer social friendships among Indian nationals and people of other nationalities.

International Club

In existence to promote better understanding and closer relations between foreign and American students, and between the various national groups of foreign students themselves by means of discussions, exchange of opinions, and cooperative activities.

Keweenaw Pride

Keweenaw Pride is the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Straight Ally (GLBTA) Organization of Michigan Technological University and the Keweenaw. We are a student group for GLBT people, their straight allies and friends who seek to provide a safe place for those in need of support. In terms of activism, we put on educational presentations and forums for the campus community as well as participate in national awareness events such as Coming Out Day and National Day of Silence. Additionally, we put on numerous social events throughout the year to promote a "queer positive" atmosphere on our campus.

Korean Student Association

Established to organize and participate in inter-cultural events and to direct social activities inbetween Korean students, professors and their families. KSA also work to let Korean culture known in the humble town of Houghton.

Malaysian Student Association

1. Have more activities which involved all MASA members. 2. Promote MASA members to interact with other societies.

Memorial Union Board

Established to promote the use of the MUB and its facilities for the benefit of Michigan Technological University; stimulate social, cultural, and civic development of the campus; provide a program of cultural and/or recreational activities for the student body.

Muslim Student Association

Established to bring Muslims closer and promote Muslim brotherhood; improve communication and coordination among Muslims on campus; organize Islamic activities; promote Islamic morals; promote communication between Muslim students at Michigan Technological University and other Islamic organizations in USA.

Nosotros

Established to create a "sense of community" of the Hispanic/Latin culture at Michigan Technological University; to share the Hispanic/Latin culture with the campus community and to provide a forum for the exchange of information pertinent for the Hispanic/Latino and non-Hispanic/Latino students enrolled in Michigan Technological University.

Native American Association

Established to promote the understanding of Native American culture at Michigan Technological University, in the community, and in this organization; facilitate the exchange of information regarding employment opportunities, scholarships, and special programs.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at MTU

Established to increase the recruitment and retention and professional development of Hispanic/Latino science, math, engineering, technology students at Michigan Technological University; promote the advancement of Hispanic/Latino engineers and scientists in employment and education; develop and participate in programs with industry and the university, which benefit students seeking technical degrees; improve the retention of Hispanic/Latino students enrolled in science, math, engineering, technology.

Society of Intellectual Sisters

Established to promote sisterhood, primarily but not exclusively amongst African American women, and scholarship among members; to develop unification and cultural diversity at the university and in the community through service and fundraising.

Society of Women Engineers

Established to inform young women, their parents, counselors, and the general public of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities available to them.

Technobabe Times

Technobabe Times is a monthly publication, as well as an active group in the community, dedicated to the empowerment of women in all aspects of technology and culture. We are also interested in promoting diversity on campus - gender and otherwise. If you are interested in writing, photography, graphic design, editing and layout, promoting awareness, activism, and making a positive influence on campus, check us out. Meetings: Every Tuesday, 6:30pm - 7:30pm in G12 Wads
